two-PIECE (with SCREWHOLE) STYLE grips
THIS LISTING IS FOR OUR
TWO-PIECE (SCREWHOLE) STYLE GRIPS
********
ONE-PIECE VS. TWO-PIECE STYLE GRIPS EXPLAINED:
Note: One-Piece style grips do not have a visible
screw but instead use an internal spacer to mount the grips. Two-Piece style grips incorporate a visible
screw, allowing easy and quick removal for cleaning or maintenance of your
revolver. We manufacture both
types. Both styles of our grips will
interchange and work on either style of grip frame, no matter how your revolver
is currently set up. Both styles are
traditional and historical designs and both were originally used on early
Colts, so whichever style you choose is really a matter of personal
preference.
One-Piece
style grips (i.e., grips with no visible screwhole in the grips) incorporate a spacer
(included with the grips) which is user mounted to the inside of the grip
panels to hold them in place instead of a using a screw. To ensure optimum fit and best performance, the
spacer is sent unmounted since all gripframes vary slightly in inside
dimensions. Installation is simple and generally
takes only a few minutes. Illustrated
instructions included with each order.
This results in a rock-tight fit, without the need of a screw. One-Piece grips are preferred by many
collectors for their clean lines and traditional look, and are seen on many
early Colts. Once mounted, they are fully removable by removing the three
backstrap screws, and will not alter your revolver in any way. Reinstallation is in reverse order.
Alternatively, our Two-Piece style
grips (i.e., grips with a visible screw) offer the superior convenience of
quick grip removal using only the screw (also included with the grips). Our Two-Piece style grips also include our
proprietary Conversion Kit, allowing
their use on revolvers that do not have a grip pin in the frame (as is the case
with most Italian-made revolvers and others that currently have a one-piece
style grip). The Conversion Kit replaces
the need for a grip pin and is actually a stronger design, and allows the grips
to lock up tight on the frame, allowing no movement. This
requires no modification to your revolver.
Two-piece grips give you the advantage of easier access to your revolver
for cleaning and maintenance, while preserving the integrity of your revolver
in original factory condition. Two-Piece style grips were also used
on many of the early Colts, and are a traditional and iconic historical design,
offering a distinctive look and convenience preferred by many shooters and collectors.
Fully
illustrated, easy-to-follow mounting instructions are included.

WHAT THESE WILL FIT:
(Note:
Please read these paragraphs thoroughly, including the “WILL NOT FIT” section
below):
These grips are made to
fit the Pietta revolvers using the 3-1/2”
tall (1860 Army size) gripframe.
This includes the Pietta 1860 Cap & Ball revolvers as well as
various Cartridge guns on which Pietta uses the 3-1/2” tall gripframe. If your Pietta revolver has a 3-1/2” tall gripframe,
these are the correct grips.
Please note that these
will NOT
fit shorter (Navy sized) gripframes which measure around 3-1/16” to 3-1/8”
tall. To make sure you are ordering the correct grip, please check
your grip frame measurement prior to ordering. (Measure this by
placing the butt of the revolver flat on a table and measuring up from the
table to the highest point of the grip, which will be at the upper front tip of
the grip above the medallion area).
Pietta revolvers may be
imported and marketed through Cimarron, Taylor’s & Company, EMF, Navy Arms,
etc. and may be stamped by any of those firms, but will say “Pietta” somewhere
on the revolver (sometimes under the barrel), who is the actual manufacturer.
IMPORTANT: When you order
1) Please leave a note on your order telling us
whether you have an all-steel gripframe (steel backstrap AND steel triggerguard/frontstrap),
OR a steel & brass gripframe (steel
backstrap and brass frontstrap/triggerguard);
2) Also, please let us know the date code
found on your revolver. Please see the picture
in this listing showing you what to look for.
Tip: If you are ordering from our website, please
place the item in your cart prior to purchasing and you will then be able
to leave a note.
Pietta has used different gripframes over the
years, each with its own unique profile.
Please note that if we do not hear from you on the above two items, we
will send out the most current profile in order to get your order out on time.
……………………………..
Some common examples of
Pietta’s revolvers using the 3-1/2” Tall gripframe:
Pietta Cap & Ball (Blackpowder) Revolvers:
* Pietta
1860 Army .44 Caliber Blackpowder (Cap & Ball Percussion) revolvers. Please however double check your revolver and
make sure it has the 3-1/2” tall gripframe, since Pietta has used a smaller “Navy”
(3-1/8”) size frame on a few of their 1860s);
* Pietta 1851
Navy Blackpowder Revolvers with the taller 3-1/2” 1860
Army size frames only. These are
usually chambered in .44 Caliber. Please note that these will NOT fit
the ‘51 Navys with the more common, 3-1/8” tall Navy gripframes. Your gripframe must be 3-1/2” tall for
these to work.
Pietta Cartridge Revolvers with the 3-1/2” tall 1860
Army size gripframe:
* Traditions/Pietta Frontier .44 Magnum (and a few .357 Magnum Frontiers using the taller
3-1/2” 1860 Army grip frame);
* EMF/Pietta Great Western II Alchimista
I, II, or III. *Please note that
these will NOT fit the other Great
Western IIs which use the shorter 3-1/8” gripframe;
* Cimarron/Pietta El Malo II with 3-1/2” tall gripframe *(NOTE: some El Malo II’s use a “Birdshead” style gripframe, which is
very obviously a completely different grip shape, and these will not work on
that version. They will also NOT FIT the El Malo I which has the
shorter 3-1/8” Navy sized frame).
* Cimarron/Pietta Eliminator;
*Taylor’s & Co./Pietta TC9 revolvers with the 3-1/2” Tall gripframe. (NOTE:
these grips will ONLY fit the TC9
with the 3-1/2” tall 1860 Army sized gripframe.
These come stock with Checkered Walnut grips. Note that these will NOT fit the TC9 with the shorter 3-1/8” tall gripframe that come
stock with Black Checkered Plastic grips.
Please check your measurements prior to ordering;
* AND ALL other Pietta revolvers using the 3-1/2” tall 1860 Army sized grip
frame.
Please contact us if you
have any questions, or cannot find the proper grip, and we will be happy to
help.
WILL NOT FIT:
These grips are made to
fit ONLY Pietta revolvers,
and will NOT fit
anything made by Uberti, Armi San Marco, Colt, or any other manufacturer.
If you have one of these other makes of revolvers and cannot find the grip you
need, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Arizona Custom Grips
About Magna-Tusk™ Ivory and Stag Grips:
Magna-Tusk™ Ivory and Stag grips, a product of Arizona Custom Grips, are manufactured out of our high-grade, high density ivory material designed exclusively as a premium, high-strength grip material. Vastly superior to standard bonded ivory or stag found on most factory and other aftermarket grips, Magna-Tusk™ is capable of withstanding the heaviest recoil and impact, and is the toughest alternative grip material available today, while still retaining the pristine look of real ivory or stag. It is rock-solid, stable, and water, chemical, and oil resistant. It is flame and heat resistant, and is entirely void-free, with over 10x the strength, durability, and impact resistance of alternative materials. Unlike with real ivory or stag, there is no routine care and maintenance involved, with no danger of it drying out and cracking if not maintained properly or if left in the heat. It is filled with premium natural compounds to produce outstanding aesthetic properties and mechanical performance. When aged with our natural aging process, it takes on the equivalent of a 100-year-old patina, with subtle grain details which many experts cannot tell apart from the real thing. In addition, the material has a fine grain structure, which holds intricate detail for carvings, artistic relief work, etc., found on many historic grips.
