A Brief History of the Colt Model 1877:
The Colt Model 1877 was a
double-action revolver manufactured by Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Company from
January 1877 to 1912. Designed by
William Mason (the designer of the legendary Model 1873 Single Action Army), the
M1877 Double Action was Colt’s first foray into the area of double action
revolvers, appearing three years prior to Smith & Wesson’s first double
action offering. It was built on a
medium frame, and used a small bird’s-head-shaped grip.
The M1877 was offered in
three calibers, which lent them their three unofficial names: the .38 Long Colt
“Lightning” (which was the initial
caliber produced); the .41 Long Colt “Thunderer”
(which was added later) and the .32 Long Colt “Rainmaker” (produced in the smallest number of the three). All of the models had a six-round capacity. These were made both with and without an
ejector rod and ranged in barrel lengths from 2 to 7 inches. Total production was just under 167,000 units.
These revolvers were carried by notable Old West figures such as John Wesley Hardin (who had one on him when
he died), Pat Garrett, and Billy the Kid.

About Magna-Tusk™ Ivory and Stag Grips:
Magna-Tusk™ Ivory and Stag grips, a product of Arizona Custom
Grips, are manufactured out of our high-grade, high density ivory material
designed exclusively as a premium, high-strength grip material. Vastly superior to standard bonded ivory or
stag found on most factory and other aftermarket grips, Magna-Tusk™ is capable
of withstanding the heaviest recoil and impact, and is the toughest alternative
grip material available today, while still retaining the pristine look of real
ivory or stag. It is rock-solid, stable, and water, chemical, and
oil resistant. It is flame and heat resistant, and is entirely
void-free, with over 10x the strength, durability, and impact resistance of
alternative materials. Unlike with real ivory or stag, there is no
routine care and maintenance involved, with no danger of it drying out and
cracking if not maintained properly or if left in the heat. It is
filled with premium natural compounds to produce outstanding aesthetic
properties and mechanical performance. When aged with our natural
aging process, it takes on the equivalent of a 100-year-old patina, with subtle
grain details which many experts cannot tell apart from the real
thing. In addition, the material has a fine grain structure, which
holds intricate detail for carvings, artistic relief work, etc., found on many
historic grips.
