ONE-PIECE VS. TWO-PIECE STYLE GRIPS EXPLAINED:

Note: One-Piece style grips do not have a visible screw but instead use an internal spacer to mount the grips.  Two-Piece style grips incorporate a visible screw, allowing easy and quick removal for cleaning or maintenance of your revolver.  We manufacture both types.  Both styles of our grips will interchange and work on either style of grip frame, no matter how your revolver is currently set up.  Both styles are traditional and historical designs and both were originally used on early Colts, so whichever style you choose is really a matter of personal preference. 

One-Piece style grips (i.e., grips with no visible screwhole in the grips) incorporate a spacer (included with the grips) which is user mounted to the inside of the grip panels to hold them in place instead of a using a screw.  To ensure optimum fit and best performance, the spacer is sent unmounted since all gripframes vary slightly in inside dimensions.  Installation is simple and generally takes only a few minutes.  Illustrated instructions included with each order.  This results in a rock-tight fit, without the need of a screw.  One-Piece grips are preferred by many collectors for their clean lines and traditional look, and are seen on many early Colts. Once mounted, they are fully removable by removing the three backstrap screws, and will not alter your revolver in any way.  Reinstallation is in reverse order. 

Alternatively, our Two-Piece style grips (i.e., grips with a visible screw) offer the superior convenience of quick grip removal using only the screw (also included with the grips).  Our Two-Piece style grips also include our proprietary Conversion Kit, allowing their use on revolvers that do not have a grip pin in the frame (as is the case with most Italian-made revolvers and others that currently have a one-piece style grip).  The Conversion Kit replaces the need for a grip pin and is actually a stronger design, and allows the grips to lock up tight on the frame, allowing no movement.  This requires no modification to your revolver.  Two-piece grips give you the advantage of easier access to your revolver for cleaning and maintenance, while preserving the integrity of your revolver in original factory condition. Two-Piece style grips were also used on many of the early Colts, and are a traditional and iconic historical design, offering a distinctive look and convenience preferred by many shooters and collectors.

A Brief History of the EAA Bounty Hunter: The Bounty Hunter owes its lineage to the well-known Hawes Western Marshall revolvers, made by the J.P. Sauer & Sohn firm in Germany from the late 1960’s, into the 1970’s.  J.P. Sauer later acquired the Swiss gunmaker SIG, changing the company name to Sig Sauer.  At that time, Sauer began focusing on autoloaders and sold its revolver operation and tooling to Herman Weihrauch Waffenfabrik, also of Germany. Weihrauch added a transfer bar safety to the old design and continued production of the revolver as the Bounty Hunter.  The Bounty Hunter is currently imported by European American Arms (EAA), based in Florida.

What these will fit:

This auction is for a set of Genuine Magna-Tusk™ grips for the EAA BOUNTY HUNTER (Model 1873 SAA style revolvers).  Note: These grips will fit both the smallbore .22 Caliber revolvers, and the larger .38/.357, .44 Mag., and .45 Colt etc. bores.  Please note that these grips will fit only the standard sized “plowhandle” style frames (around 3-1/8” tall).

What these will NOT fit: 

Please note that these grips are made to fit ONLY the EAA BOUNTY HUNTER Single Action revolvers, with the standard sized (3-1/8” tall) “plowhandle” style frames.  These will NOT fit the less often seen larger sized Bounty Hunter frames (roughly around 3-1/2” or so tall).  Nor will they fit any revolvers from other makers (such as Uberti, Pietta, Armi San Marco, Colt, Ruger, etc.).

About our exclusive Magna-Tusk™ “Hi-Grade” Ivory and Stag Grips:

Magna-Tusk™ Ivory and Stag grips, an exclusive of Arizona Custom Grips, are manufactured out of our super high-grade, ultra-high density material developed exclusively for our premium grip production.  Vastly superior to standard bonded ivory or stag found on factory and other aftermarket grips, Magna-Tusk™ is capable of withstanding the heaviest recoil and impact, and is the toughest alternative grip material available today, while still retaining the pristine look of real ivory or stag.  It is completely rock-solid, stable, and water, chemical, and oil resistant.  It is flame and heat resistant, and is entirely void-free, with over 10x the strength, durability, and impact resistance of alternative materials.  Unlike with real ivory or stag, there is no routine care and maintenance involved, with no danger of it drying out and cracking if not maintained properly or if left in the heat.  It is filled with premium natural and synthetic compounds to produce outstanding aesthetic properties and mechanical performance.  When aged with our exclusive aging process, it takes on the equivalent of a 100-year-old patina, with subtle grain details which many experts cannot tell apart from the real thing.  In addition, the material has a fine grain structure, which holds intricate detail for carvings, artistic relief work, etc., found on many historic grips. 

About Our Aging Process:

Unlike the lightweight artificial yellow plastic materials sometimes offered for sale, Magna-Tusk aged grips start out as a solid block of white virgin Magna-Tusk Ivory.  Grip blanks are then milled from this premium material, incorporating both CNC techniques for blanking and being finished and polished with the same process used in manufacturing the originals.  They are then carefully aged with our exclusive aging process, incorporating concentrated UV light (the essential aging property in natural sunlight), in a hermetically sealed environment. 

Although this process is a much slower process than artificial coloring methods, the result speaks for itself.  Our process produces an authentic appearance and genuine patina which extends into the surface, just like real ivory or stag.  Not only does this give it the appearance of authenticity and depth, but this surface will not chip, crack, or peel like a superficially applied coating.  Accept no substitutes.  With Magna-Tusk aged grips, most experts cannot tell them apart from a decades-old or even a centuries-old original.  While the quality difference is somewhat noticeable in the photos, the difference is even more apparent when seen and handled in person.  Many of our repeat sales are made by the very customers we sell to, who take their custom-stocked revolvers to the range or club, where the quality difference is immediately seen and appreciated by fellow shooters.

Magna-Tusk grips have all the authenticity of the originals, with several improvements over original materials including increased durability, and are made to last a lifetime.  They feature subtle but authentic color mottling, grain variegation, and other authentic minute details found on original old Ivory and aged Stag, as seen on many of the revolvers which belonged to gunfighters and lawmen of the Old West.  Dense, heavy, and solid, Magna-Tusk grips are in a class all their own.
