ONE-PIECE VS. TWO-PIECE STYLE GRIPS:
Note: Two-Piece style
grips incorporate a visible screw and screwhole, allowing easy and quick
removal for cleaning or maintenance of your revolver. One-Piece style grips do not use a screw but
instead use an internal spacer. We sell
both types. Both styles are traditional
and historical designs and both were originally used on early Colts, so it is a
matter of personal preference. Both
styles of our grips will interchange and work on either style of grip frame, no
matter how your revolver is currently set up. See below.
One-Piece style grips (i.e., grips
which do not have a visible screwhole in the grips) incorporate a user
installed spacer (included with the grips) between the grip panels, as seen on
many of the early Colts. The spacer
supplied with your grips is sent unmounted to ensure optimum fit with your
revolver, with simple, quick installation which takes about one minute or so
per panel. Fully illustrated
instructions are included. This results
in a rock-tight fit, without the need of a screw. Preferred by many collectors for their clean
lines and traditional look. One-Piece style grips are removed by removing the
three backstrap screws, and pulling the grip and backstrap backwards. Reinstallation is in reverse order.
Alternatively, our Two-Piece style
grips (i.e., grips with a visible screw and screwhole) offer the superior
convenience of quick grip removal. Our
grips include a free Conversion Kit, allowing
their use on revolvers that are currently set up for One-Piece style grips that
do not have a grip pin. The Conversion Kit
replaces the need for a grip pin and is actually a stronger design, and allows
the grips to lock up tight on the frame, allowing no movement. This
requires no modification to your revolver and gives you the advantage of the
ease of maintenance of Two-Piece grips, while preserving the integrity of your
revolver in original factory condition. Two-Piece style grips were
also used on many of the early Colts, and are a traditional and iconic
historical design, offering a distinctive look and convenience preferred by
many collectors.
Fully illustrated, detailed instructions
are included with each set of grips. 06302300

A Short History of the
Hawes Western Marshal Revolvers
From the early 1950’s to the 1970’s, the Hollywood Western was the undisputed
king of television and the silver screen.
Television shows such as Gunsmoke,
Bonanza, The Virginian, Rawhide, and Wagon
Train, and many others too numerous to mention, were some of the most
watched TV productions ever made. At the
same time the Hollywood movie industry was also in full swing, releasing some
of the most memorable Western genre movie productions in Hollywood history.
Several enterprising firearms firms capitalized on the Single Action
craze which arose largely due to the public’s fascination with the lore of the
Old West, which to a very large degree continues unabated to this day.
In the late 1960’s through the 1970’s, Hawes Firearms Inc., based in Los
Angeles, California, imported and marketed a popular series of Single Action
Army style revolvers known as the Western
Marshal series. These revolvers were
manufactured in Germany by the J.P. Sauer & Sohn firm and imported
primarily by Hawes.
What these will fit:
These grips WILL FIT the following Hawes
“Western Marshal” series revolvers:
●Western Marshal;
●Chief Marshal;
●Federal Marshal;
●Deputy Marshal;
●Silver City Marshal;
●Texas Marshal;
●Montana Marshal;
What these will NOT fit:
Please note that these will NOT fit the Great Western Arms
revolvers manufactured in the United States by the Great Western Arms Company
of Los Angeles from 1954 to 1964. This company’s
products were also distributed by Hawes, but is a completely different company
than the J.P. Sauer (Germany) manufactured revolvers.
These
will also NOT fit the Herters “Powermag” revolvers (also made by J.P. Sauer
& Sohn) which incorporate a much taller gripframe.
Also, these will NOT fit any other make of revolver, including any
of the Italian replicas (such as Pietta, Uberti, and Armi San Marco), nor any
of the Ruger or Colt manufactured revolvers.
Please email if you have any questions, are unsure, or cannot find what
you need.
For an additional
charge, custom fitting is an option. If interested, please contact

Arizona Custom Grips
About our exclusive Magna-Tusk™ “Hi-Grade” Ivory Grips:
Our Ivory grips, an exclusive of Arizona Custom Grips, are made out of a premium high-grade, ultra-high density ivory material (Magna-Tusk™), designed from the ground up as a premium grip material to greatly improve on the inherent fragility and weakness of the cheaper Bonded Ivory used on just about all factory and regular aftermarket ivory grips today. Standard Bonded Ivory is brittle, and tends to weaken and develop stress fractures over time with repeated use, firing, and handling. Magna-Tusk™ is capable of withstanding the heaviest recoil and impact, and is the toughest alternative Ivory grip material available today, while still retaining the pristine look of real ivory. These grips are not cast or made out of an inferior, lightweight material, but are heavy and dense, carefully milled out of a solid block, one at a time. Magna-Tusk is completely rock-solid, stable, and water, chemical, and oil resistant. It is flame and heat resistant, will not melt like Urethane or plastic, and is entirely void-free, with over 10x the strength, durability, and impact resistance of alternative materials. Unlike with real ivory, there is no routine care and maintenance involved, with no danger of it drying out and cracking if not maintained properly or if left in the heat. It is produced with outstanding aesthetic properties and mechanical performance. When aged with our exclusive aging process, it takes on the equivalent of a 100-year-old patina, with subtle grain details which most experts cannot tell apart from the real thing. In addition, the material has a fine grain structure, which holds intricate detail for carvings, artistic relief work, etc., found on many historic grips.
