oNE-PIECE
(nO SCREWHOLE) STYLE grips
THIS LISTING IS FOR OUR ONE-PIECE (NO SCREWHOLE) STYLE GRIPS
********
ONE-PIECE VS. TWO-PIECE STYLE GRIPS EXPLAINED:
Note: One-Piece style grips do not have a visible
screw but instead use an internal spacer to mount the grips. Two-Piece style grips incorporate a visible
screw, allowing easy and quick removal for cleaning or maintenance of your
revolver. We manufacture both types. Both styles of our grips will interchange
and work on either style of grip frame, no matter how your revolver is
currently set up. Both styles are
traditional and historical designs and both were originally used on early
Colts, so whichever style you choose is really a matter of personal
preference.
One-Piece
style grips (i.e., grips with no visible screwhole in the grips) incorporate a spacer
(included with the grips) which is user mounted to the inside of the grip
panels to hold them in place instead of a using a screw. To ensure optimum fit and best performance, the
spacer is sent unmounted since all gripframes vary slightly in inside
dimensions. Installation is simple and
generally takes only a few minutes.
Illustrated instructions included with each order. This results in a rock-tight fit, without the
need of a screw. One-Piece grips are preferred
by many collectors for their clean lines and traditional look, and are seen on
many early Colts. Once mounted, they are fully removable by removing the three
backstrap screws, and will not alter your revolver in any way. Reinstallation is in reverse order.
Alternatively, our Two-Piece style
grips (i.e., grips with a visible screw) offer the superior convenience of
quick grip removal using only the screw (also included with the grips). Our Two-Piece style grips also include our
proprietary Conversion Kit, allowing
their use on revolvers that do not have a grip pin in the frame (as is the case
with most Italian-made revolvers and others that currently have a one-piece
style grip). The Conversion Kit replaces
the need for a grip pin and is actually a stronger design, and allows the grips
to lock up tight on the frame, allowing no movement. This
requires no modification to your revolver.
Two-piece grips give you the advantage of easier access to your revolver
for cleaning and maintenance, while preserving the integrity of your revolver
in original factory condition. Two-Piece style grips were also used
on many of the early Colts, and are a traditional and iconic historical design,
offering a distinctive look and convenience preferred by many shooters and collectors.
Fully
illustrated, easy-to-follow mounting instructions are included with every order.

WHAT THESE WILL FIT
(Please
read this entire section carefully):
These WILL FIT any of the PIETTA Single Action Army style revolvers, with the STANDARD SIZED 1873 SAA “plowhandle”
shaped grip frame, which measures approximately 3-1/16” to 3-1/8” tall
(depending on how you hold your ruler, tape, or caliper).
IMPORTANT NOTE
when ordering:
Pietta has used
numerous minor gripframe variants made from different moulds on their SAA style
revolvers over the years. Although not
always visible to the naked eye, these have subtle differences in shape and
measurement, and specific grips need to be sent out for each specific type of variant. We manufacture grips for each of these
variants and will send you the correct set of grips for your particular
frame.
IMPORTANT: In order for us to get you the
correct grips, please leave a note on your order stating 1) whether you have a steel
or brass gripframe; and 2)
please let us know the date code
found on your revolver. Please see the
second picture in the listing showing you how to find the date code. If you cannot find the date code after
careful inspection (it is sometimes put under the triggerguard), please let us
know approximately when the revolver was purchased, and send us the serial
number of your revolver. We may occasionally
ask you for additional information such as a picture of your gripframe for
proper identification in some cases.
Please note that
if we do not hear from you, we will send the most common current version of
grips in order to get them out on time.
Gripframe height:
Please also note
that Pietta produces a few revolvers with a gripframe approximately 3-1/2”
tall, which is known as the 1860 Army
frame, which the standard sized SAA 3-1/8” grips will not fit. These include
EMF’s Alchimista, Taylor’s 1873 Single Action Army Grip, or
Cimarron’s Bad Boy or El Malo 2.
The difference is immediately apparent to the
eye if you have been around revolvers for long.
Please check your gripframe with a ruler if necessary, and if you have
one of the taller 3-1/2” frames, see our listings for the Pietta 1860 Army, or
contact us if you have any questions or if you cannot find what you need. We will be happy to help.
Some specific
examples of Pietta’s 1873 SAA revolvers that they currently produce:
Please note that Pietta
is coming out with more sub-variants all the time (most of which are merely
cosmetic differences), and we try to keep the list reasonably current. However, your specific revolver may or may
not be on the list. -- But in essence, all you need to do is
verify that it has the standard 3-1/8” tall gripframe, and then send us the
information previously discussed so we can get the exact grips for your
particular variant.
All of the
following are made by Pietta and imported by Cimarron, E.M.F., Taylor’s &
Co., etc.:
• Cimarron Frontier or Stainless Frontier, Pistolero, or El Malo (NOT
the El Malo 2);
• Davidson’s, Gallery of Guns, or other Pietta
distributor 1873s, (sometimes also marked “Pietta
1873 Gunfighter”, “Pietta 1873 Rio” or “Del Rio Deluxe”, “Pietta 1873 Centennial”,
“Pietta El Diablo”, Pietta King Trio, Prospector
.44 Mag., etc.);
• E.M.F. Great
Western II (available in numerous variations including the Blank Firing, Buntline, Californian, Dead Man’s Hand, Dlx Californian, Dlx Grande
Californian, Cattlebrand, Dlx Stainless Steel, Express Agent (“Standard”
gripframe ONLY), Frontier, Gambler’s Royale, General Patton, Gunfighter, Liberty,
Midnight Special, Paladin, Pony Express (“Standard” gripframe ONLY), Posse, “R”
Model, Sheriff, The Last Stand, The Shootist, U.S. Marshal, and U.S. Grant). – [Please note that these will NOT fit the
“Alchimista” models which have the taller 3-1/2” frames].
• E.M.F. Hartford,
Dakota II, or Dakota III;
• Taylor’s & Co. TC9 revolvers with the Checkered
Black Plastic grips. This revolver
uses the standard 3-1/8” (Navy sized) gripframe. **Please note that these grips WILL NOT FIT the TC9 with the Checkered
Walnut grips, which is a taller (1860 Army sized) gripframe, measuring around
3-1/2” tall. Please see our store and
look for our Pietta 1860 grips if you have one of these.
• Taylor’s & Co. Outlaw Legacy (NOT the “Remington Outlaw”); Single Action Stag; 1873 Sa; 1873 Sa Blued; 1873 Sa Brass Stag; 1873 Single Action Case Hardened; or Pietta Engraved Revolvers such as Teddy
Roosevelt, Patton, Cattlebrand Engraved, etc.;
• Any of Pietta’s additional engraved SAA style
revolvers being sold under various names not mentioned above, such as the Teddy Roosevelt Frontier, George S. Patton
Frontier, Cimarron Buffalo Bill Cody, Cody Wild West Frontier, Bat Masterson
Frontier, Frontier Meldrum, Outlaw Legacy, Bill Tilghman Cattleman, Cimarron
Texas Ranger, etc.
• Traditions Single Action Frontier or Rawhide revolvers. (Note: if your Rawhide revolver is the .22 cal. Rawhide Ranchhand, please send
us an immediate followup email after your order and let us know. These require extra milling cutouts to mount
properly to your frame.)
• Century Arms 1873 Millenium
One Final Note: Some additional Revolvers these WILL
NOT FIT:
These WILL NOT FIT any revolvers from
other makers (such as Uberti, Armi San Marco, Colt, Ruger, etc.). Also, these will NOT fit revolvers
using a gripframe that is not the standard “plowhandle” shape, such as the
Bisley, the Birdshead, the Thunderer, Thunderball, or the Lightning style gripframes,
nor any of the Remington style revolvers such as the 1858, 1875, or 1890.
Please take a careful look at the shape of your gripframe and compare
with the pictures. These are for the 3-1/16”
to 3-1/8” tall “plowhandle” style revolvers only, made by Pietta.

A note on
the Italian-produced Revolvers:
The
Italian firms, located in Northern Italy, have been making SAA style revolvers
now for well over a half century, and have made a huge number of makes and
models and grip frame profiles with varying configurations over the years. We have an in-depth knowledge of the
differing grip configurations, have a large library of gripframe variations
from the various makers both old and new, and have vast experience making grips
for Uberti, Pietta, Armi San Marco, and the other Italian gunmaking firms. Our experienced makers go to great lengths
to ensure an exacting fit, including utilizing modern precision CNC production
techniques, as well as incorporating old-time hand tuning and hand checking the
fit of every grip on our reference frames prior to leaving our factory. We have a long list of many satisfied
customers in the shooting industry who have purchased grips to use in a wide
variety of applications, and we can safely and confidently guarantee proper fit
and finish to your complete satisfaction.
For an additional
charge, custom fitting is an option.

Arizona Custom Grips
Handcrafted on an individual Custom basis out of Magna-Tusk™, our solid, dense proprietary substrate which is formulated out of natural materials for an authentic look and feel, and which yields a finished product which is the ultimate rendition of the classic stag grips of the golden era of Westerns. Better materials and our proprietary pigmenting process yields a finished product better than the originals. These grips are milled from a solid slab and are not cast. This avoids the inclusions, air pockets, and most importantly the cheap "cast plastic" look found in the urethane and other imitation materials commonly available. Like natural grips, with use and handling over time they will form an authentic patina and will only improve with age. They look better, age better, and perform better. And perhaps best of all, these grips are made entirely in the U.S.A.!
Gun prop and holster not included -- only the grips are for sale. Please note that the grips shown are a stock photo used for illustration purposes only. Your grips will be individually hand cut and appear similar to these.
The "B-Western":
These "B-Western" Style Custom grips are hand-carved one-at-a-time in recognition of one of America's most outstanding and lasting cultural achievements of the 20th century -- the "B-Western." Styled after the grips seen on the revolvers of classic Hollywood Westerns of the 1930's to the 1960's (the "golden era of Hollywood Westerns"), these grips were featured in numerous Western productions both on Television and on the Silver Screen. Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Rifleman, Rawhide, The Virginian, and many others too numerous to mention, all took America back to a simpler time and place. Times have changed, but the lessons and values of that unforgettable period still have a place in the hearts of millions of Americans and many other Western fans throughout the world who appreciate the enduring contribution to our culture and society made by the unique and colorful characters of the Old West.

Arizona Custom Stag™ Grips:
These grips are completely unique, custom, and one-of-a-kind. Each is hand cut, and no two are the same. You will not find another set like them on any gun at any Western event, guaranteed! Hand made in painstaking, exacting detail to authentic feel and dimensions. We strive for museum quality with every pair.
Arizona Custom Stag™ looks, feels, and ages like the genuine product, with durability far exceeding Ivory (Ivory is a relatively fragile material, which often cracks under stress and age). Magna-Tusk™, our Premier Grade product used in these grips, is filled with natural materials, and works and polishes as well as looks like the real thing. It takes carving with superior detail and definition, and accurately captures that authentic, weathered, deep, dark chocolate brown/black color in the bark pattern sought after by stag collectors. With age, it develops a soft, mellow patina which makes it indistinguishable from the more expensive and fragile product.
These grips are used in professional applications where only the best will do. We have supplied these grips to Hollywood and other locations that demand only the best in durability, design, and authenticity. We cut no corners, and make every grip with the intention of it being a grip which will last a lifetime. A fine revolver deserves a fine grip. If you have been looking for the ultimate B-Western grip, you won't be disappointed!!
The durability and excellent aging characteristics of these grips are enhanced by our exclusive and permanent bonded pigment application process which, once cured, won't chip, crack, or peel like superficially applied paint products found on less expensive grips. Accept no substitutes. Arizona Custom Stag™ adds a touch of class and realism which is completely lost by using lesser quality "cast plastic" imitations available elsewhere.
Grip screws included with all grips. As with all Single Action grips, minor fitting may be, but is not usually, required due to small variations in grip frames. Full instructions included with all grips.
The distinctive qualities and authentic presentation of Arizona Custom Stag™ offers an authentic look, heft and feel which invoke the aura and spirit of the Old West. Guaranteed to please even the most discriminating collector and Western memorabilia aficionado. Full money back, less shipping, if not fully satisfied! If returning, please note that the product must be returned in original, unaltered condition.
Remember, above all: Ride Hard, Shoot Straight, and Speak the Truth! Happy Trails!!
