two-PIECE (with SCREWHOLE) STYLE grips

THIS LISTING IS FOR OUR TWO-PIECE (SCREWHOLE) STYLE GRIPS

********

ONE-PIECE VS. TWO-PIECE STYLE GRIPS EXPLAINED:

Note: One-Piece style grips do not have a visible screw but instead use an internal spacer to mount the grips.  Two-Piece style grips incorporate a visible screw, allowing easy and quick removal for cleaning or maintenance of your revolver.  We manufacture both types.  Both styles of our grips will interchange and work on either style of grip frame, no matter how your revolver is currently set up.  Both styles are traditional and historical designs and both were originally used on early Colts, so whichever style you choose is really a matter of personal preference.

One-Piece style grips (i.e., grips with no visible screwhole in the grips) incorporate a spacer (included with the grips) which is user mounted to the inside of the grip panels to hold them in place instead of a using a screw.  To ensure optimum fit and best performance, the spacer is sent unmounted since all gripframes vary slightly in inside dimensions.  Installation is simple and generally takes only a few minutes.  Illustrated instructions included with each order.  This results in a rock-tight fit, without the need of a screw.  One-Piece grips are preferred by many collectors for their clean lines and traditional look, and are seen on many early Colts. Once mounted, they are fully removable by removing the three backstrap screws, and will not alter your revolver in any way.  Reinstallation is in reverse order.

Alternatively, our Two-Piece style grips (i.e., grips with a visible screw) offer the superior convenience of quick grip removal using only the screw (also included with the grips).  Our Two-Piece style grips also include our proprietary Conversion Kit, allowing their use on revolvers that do not have a grip pin in the frame (as is the case with most Italian-made revolvers and others that currently have a one-piece style grip).  The Conversion Kit replaces the need for a grip pin and is actually a stronger design, and allows the grips to lock up tight on the frame, allowing no movement.  This requires no modification to your revolver.  Two-piece grips give you the advantage of easier access to your revolver for cleaning and maintenance, while preserving the integrity of your revolver in original factory condition. Two-Piece style grips were also used on many of the early Colts, and are a traditional and iconic historical design, offering a distinctive look and convenience preferred by many shooters and collectors.

Fully illustrated, easy-to-follow mounting instructions are included with every order.

WHAT THESE WILL FIT

(Please read this entire section carefully):

These WILL FIT any of the PIETTA Single Action Army style revolvers, with the standard sized SAA “plowhandle” grip frame, which measures around 3-1/8” tall.  [Please see the notes below regarding brass gripframes if that is what you have, and also the non-standard, taller sized 1860 Army sized gripframes].

This includes any of the following (all of which are made by Pietta and imported by Cimarron, E.M.F., Taylor’s & Co., etc.):

•  Cimarron Frontier or Stainless Frontier, Pistolero, or El Malo (NOT the El Malo 2);

  Davidson’s Exclusive 1873s (sometimes also marked “Pietta 1873 Gunfighter”, “Pietta 1873 Rio” or “Del Rio Deluxe”, “Pietta 1873 Centennial”, “Pietta El Diablo”, etc.);

  E.M.F. Great Western II (available in numerous variations including the Blank Firing, Buntline, Californian, Dlx Californian, Dlx Grande Californian, Cattlebrand, Dlx Stainless Steel, Express Agent (“Standard” gripframe ONLY), Frontier, Gambler’s Royale, General Patton, Gunfighter, Liberty, Midnight Special, Paladin, Pony Express (“Standard” gripframe ONLY), Posse, “R” Model, Sheriff, The Last Stand, The Shootist, U.S. Marshal, and U.S. Grant).  -- Please note that these will NOT fit the “Alchimista” models – see below.

  E.M.F. Hartford, Dakota II, or Dakota III;

  Taylor’s & Co. TC9 revolvers with the Checkered Black Plastic grips.  This revolver uses the standard (Navy sized) gripframe, measuring around 3-1/8” tall or a little under.  >> Please note that these grips WILL NOT FIT the TC9 with the Checkered Walnut grips, which is a taller (1860 Army sized) gripframe, measuring around 3-1/2” tall.  Please see our store and look for our Pietta 1860 grips if you have one of these.

  Taylor’s & Co. Outlaw Legacy (NOT the Remington Outlaw), Single Action Stag, Cattle Brand Engraved, or other Engraved Pietta Revolvers such as Teddy Roosevelt, Patton, Cattlebrand, etc.;

  Any of Pietta’s engraved SAA style revolvers being sold under various names not mentioned above, such as the Teddy Roosevelt Frontier, George S. Patton Frontier, Cimarron Buffalo Bill Cody, Cody Wild West Frontier, Bat Masterson Frontier, Outlaw Legacy, Bill Tilghman Cattleman, Cimarron Texas Ranger, etc

  Traditions Single Action Frontier or Rawhide revolvers.  (Note: if your Rawhide revolver is the .22 cal. Rawhide Ranchhand, please send us an immediate followup email after your order and let us know.  These require extra milling cutouts to mount properly to your frame.)

  Century Arms 1873 Millenium

Note: If you do not see your pistol listed, please drop us an email with your model name and we will verify your revolver.

IMPORTANT!! (Please read the following in its entirety to ensure that you get the correct grips):

1) Please note that Pietta has used several different grip frame variations over the years.  To ensure that we send the correct grips, when ordering please attach a message to your order stating the two-digit code found in the small rectangular box on your revolver (as shown in the 2nd picture in the listing).  If you have a newer revolver and cannot find the code, please send the first three digits of your serial number so we can identify your particular revolver.  If we do not hear back from you, we will send the most common version of grips to ensure we get these out on time.

2) Also, if you have a BRASS gripframe (such as is sometimes found on the Cimarron “Pistolero”, Davidson’s Exclusive 1873s, EMF’s GWII “Gunfighter”, or Taylor’s “1873 Single Action Stag” revolvers, for example), please attach a note to your order informing us.

 3) Finally, please note that these WILL NOT fit Pietta gripframes that are around 3-1/2” tall (such as EMF’s Alchimista, or Cimarron’s Bad Boy or El Malo 2).  Your grips should measure around 3-1/16” to 3-1/8” tall, depending on how you hold your ruler or caliper.  Please check this carefully before ordering.  If your grips measure 3-1/2”, our Pietta 1860 Army grips are milled to fit these, which you can find in our store.  Please feel free to contact us if you cannot locate what you need.

What these WILL NOT FIT

These WILL NOT FIT any revolvers from other makers (such as Uberti, Armi San Marco, Colt, Ruger, etc.).  Also, these will NOT fit revolvers using a gripframe that is not the standard “plowhandle” shape, such as the Bisley, the Birdshead, the Thunderer, Thunderball, or the Lightning style gripframes, nor any of the Remington style revolvers such as the 1858, 1875, or 1890.  Please take a careful look at the shape of your gripframe.  These are for the “plowhandle” style revolvers only.

A note on the Italian-produced Revolvers:

The Italian firms, located in Northern Italy, have been making SAA style revolvers now for well over a half century, and have made a huge number of makes and models and grip frame profiles with varying configurations over the years.  We have an in-depth knowledge of the differing grip configurations, have a large library of gripframe variations from the various makers both old and new, and have vast experience making grips for Uberti, Pietta, Armi San Marco, and the other Italian gunmaking firms.   Our experienced makers go to great lengths to ensure an exacting fit, including utilizing modern precision CNC production techniques, as well as incorporating old-time hand tuning and hand checking the fit of every grip on our reference frames prior to leaving our factory.  We have a long list of many satisfied customers in the shooting industry who have purchased grips to use in a wide variety of applications, and we can safely and confidently guarantee proper fit and finish to your complete satisfaction.

Arizona Custom Grips

About Magna-Tusk™ Ivory and Stag Grips:

 Magna-Tusk™ Ivory and Stag grips, a product of Arizona Custom Grips, are manufactured out of our high-grade, high density ivory material designed from the beginning as a premium, high-strength grip material.  Vastly superior to standard bonded ivory or stag found on most factory and other aftermarket grips, Magna-Tusk™ is capable of withstanding the heaviest recoil and impact, and is the toughest alternative grip material available today, while still retaining the pristine look of real ivory or stag.  It is rock-solid, stable, and water, chemical, and oil resistant.  It is flame and heat resistant, and is entirely void-free, with over 10x the strength, durability, and impact resistance of alternative materials.  Unlike with real ivory or stag, there is no routine care and maintenance involved, with no danger of it drying out and cracking if not maintained properly or if left in the heat.  It is filled with premium natural compounds to produce outstanding aesthetic properties and mechanical performance.  When aged with our natural aging process, it takes on the equivalent of a 100-year-old patina, with subtle grain details which many experts cannot tell apart from the real thing.  In addition, the material has a fine grain structure, which holds intricate detail for carvings, artistic relief work, etc., found on many historic grips.
