MAGNA-TUSK

Aged STAG GRIPS

Simulated Stag Grips milled
out of a solid block of Magna-Tusk, denser and heavier than regular Ivory or
Stag.  See below for details.

The
Uberti Birdshead is the ideal concealable revolver for today’s Western
enthusiast. The
bird’s head grip design has been incorporated into Uberti’s Cattleman series
of 1873 Single Action Army revolvers in both standard and Stallion designs.
They are available in various barrel lengths and calibers.

The bird’s head grip was originally designed for Colt
Derringers in the 1850s. In 1877, Colt incorporated the distinctive and
comfortable grip style into full-frame revolvers called
 Bird’s Head
Colts
.

two-PIECE (with SCREWHOLE) STYLE

One-Piece
vs. Two-Piece Grips
: Many people prefer the clean lines of
a grip without a screwhole (One-Piece), while others prefer the look and
convenience of a Two-Piece grip (with a screw), which is easier to remove for
cleaning or maintenance.  Both styles
were originally made by Colt in the 1800’s, and both are historically
correct.  Whichever style you choose
really depends on the look you are after.
We manufacture both styles.

Note:
ANY of our grips, whether ONE-PIECE OR TWO PIECE style, will interchange
and work on either style of grip frame.

THIS AUCTION IS FOR THE TWO-PIECE (SCREWHOLE) STYLE.

We include, free of charge, a conversion kit
which allows these two-piece grips to mount onto a one-piece style grip frame
(without a grip pin).  Our conversion kit replaces the need for a
grip pin and is actually a stronger design, and locks the grips up tight
against the frame, allowing no movement.
This
gives you the advantage of the ease of maintenance of two-piece grips, while
preserving the integrity of your revolver in original factory condition.

Grip screw, conversion kit, and
full instructions with illustrations are included with each set of grips.

Whichever style you choose, you
are guaranteed to get the best quality grips on the market, made to last a
lifetime, for your shooting pleasure and enjoyment.

WHAT
THESE WILL FIT (Please read this through in its entirety)
:

Brand New, unused grips for the
UBERTI BIRDSHEAD 1873 Single Action Army style revolvers.  These
grips will fit all Uberti Birdshead
revolvers, no matter who they are marketed through in the United States (Navy Arms,
Cimarron, Taylors & Co., Stoeger, etc.).

*PLEASE NOTE – IMPORTANT!!:

If your Birdshead revolver is a “Doc Holliday” 1873 Cattleman birdshead, a
Uberti Bonney” 1873 Cattleman birdshead,
a “Kenda Leseigne (CMS Pro) birdshead”,
or a “Uberti Short Stroke CMS Pro” birdshead,
please let us know via email immediately after the purchase, as these have special
grip requirements.  If you do not have
one of these specially designated Birdshead revolvers, you have a standard
birdshead and there is no need to send an email.

WHAT THESE WILL NOT FIT: this auction is for a Birdshead style grip, which has a smooth
curve on the backstrap, and will NOT
fit the somewhat similar Thunderer style revolvers (also made by Uberti and
marketed by Cimarron), which have a hump on the backstrap.  Please
take a look at the pictures carefully to note the difference.  If you
have a Thunderer style grip, please visit our store or check our other auctions
to find the correct grip.  Or you can also click “Uberti” under our
Store Categories section at the left of this page.

Please send us an email and tell us your
specific model if you cannot locate what you need, or if you have any
questions.  We are always happy to help.

A note on the Italian-produced
Revolvers:

The Italian firms, located in Northern
Italy, have been making SAA style revolvers now for well over a half century,
and have made a huge number of makes and models and grip frame profiles with
varying configurations over the years.
We have an in-depth knowledge of the differing grip configurations, have
a large library of gripframe variations from the various makers both old and
new, and have vast experience making grips for Uberti, Pietta, Armi San Marco,
and the other Italian gunmaking firms.
Our experienced makers go to great lengths to ensure an exacting fit,
including utilizing modern precision CNC production techniques, as well as
incorporating old-time hand tuning and hand checking the fit of every grip on
our reference frames prior to leaving our factory.  We have a long list of many satisfied
customers in the shooting industry who have purchased grips to use in a wide
variety of applications, and we can safely and confidently guarantee proper fit
and finish to your complete satisfaction.

fitting is an option.  Please contact us

Arizona Custom Grips

About Magna-Tusk™ Ivory
and Stag Grips:

Magna-Tusk™ Ivory and Stag grips, a
product of Arizona Custom Grips, are manufactured out of our
high-grade, high density ivory material designed from the beginning as a premium,
high-strength grip material.  Vastly
superior to standard bonded ivory or stag found on most factory and other
aftermarket grips, Magna-Tusk™ is capable of withstanding the heaviest recoil
and impact, and is the toughest alternative grip material available today,
while still retaining the pristine look of real ivory or stag.  It is
rock-solid, stable, and water, chemical, and oil resistant.  It is
flame and heat resistant, and is entirely void-free, with over 10x the
strength, durability, and impact resistance of alternative materials.  Unlike
with real ivory or stag, there is no routine care and maintenance involved,
with no danger of it drying out and cracking if not maintained properly or if
left in the heat.  It is filled with premium natural compounds to
produce outstanding aesthetic properties and mechanical
performance.  When aged with our natural aging process, it takes on
the equivalent of a 100-year-old patina, with subtle grain details which many
experts cannot tell apart from the real thing.  In addition, the material
has a fine grain structure, which holds intricate detail for carvings, artistic
relief work, etc., found on many historic grips.

About Our Aging Process:

We
go to great efforts to ensure that our Aged Ivory or Stag not only looks similar to, but in fact looks identical to the real thing.  Our Magna-Tusk blanks will produce an aged
Ivory grip unlike any other material made today.
Our aged grips feature an
authentic aged patina, just like the originals, with a process incorporating
concentrated U.V. light (the essential aging property in natural sunlight), along
with a developer/control agent that is put on the grips to carefully control
U.V. absorption, in a sealed, high-oxygen environment to accelerate the natural
aging process.

Through
this aging process, these grips become beautifully mottled, variegated, and
weathered just like old, antique Ivory,
and incorporate other authentic details found on original old Ivory as seen on
many of the revolvers which belonged to gunfighters and lawmen of the Old West.  As with real aged Ivory, Magna-Tusk develops
a variegated patina due to its authentic grain structure, and natural aging
produces an authentic appearance and genuine patina which extends into and
below the surface.
Not only does this give it the appearance of authenticity
and depth, but this surface will not chip, crack, or peel like a superficially
applied coating.
With Magna-Tusk aged
grips, most experts cannot tell them apart from a decades-old or even a
centuries-old original.  While the
quality difference is somewhat noticeable in the photos, the difference is even
more apparent when seen and handled in person.
Many of our repeat sales are made by the very customers we sell to, who
take their grips to the range, where our grips are immediately seen and noticed
by others.  If you are interested in
ordering grips for a Brace of pistols, please order both sets together, and we
will ensure a better matchup when selecting pairs.

Dense, heavy, and solid, Magna-Tusk grips are in a class all their
own.
With our exclusive aging process, these grips
are outstanding right out of the box, and will continue to improve over
time.  The more these grips are handled
and used, the better they look!
